2. Do I need my own motorcycle?
No. We provide a motorcycle for your lesson.
2.1 Can I use my own motorcycle or riding gear?

Absolutely. You are welcome to use your own motorcycle and riding gear. We can also arrange to meet at your location or a suitable meeting point within approximately 30 minutes’ riding distance of Wellard.
3. Can I learn if I've never ridden a motorcycle before?
Absolutely. Our lessons are designed for complete beginners. We’ll guide you through every step of the learning process at a pace that suits you.
3.1 I’m nervous. Can I request a female instructor?
Yes. Simply let us know when booking and we will arrange a female instructor where available. Both of our instructors are patient, highly experienced, and committed to helping you build confidence safely.
4. Do I need my own riding gear?
No. We provide:
- Helmet
- Protective jacket
- Gloves
- Sena communication system
- Learner vest
- Wet weather gear (limited availability)
4.1 What motorcycle do you provide?
We provide a Honda CB125E, a lightweight, learner-friendly motorcycle known for its easy handling and excellent manoeuvrability. It is an ideal bike for beginners.
5. Do I need a learner's permit if it's my first time learning to ride?
Yes. If this is your first time riding a motorcycle, you must obtain a learner’s permit through the Department of Transport (DOT) before beginning training.

6. How do I get my motorcycle licence in Western Australia?

6.1 Do I have to wait 6 months before taking my test?
Yes, if this is your first motorcycle licence (RE Class).
No, if:
> You are transferring a motorcycle licence from another country.
> You have already held a motorcycle learner’s permit for more than six months.
> You are upgrading to an R Class licence.
> You are applying for an RN Class licence.
6.2 Do I need to display P plates after getting my motorcycle licence?
No, if you have already completed your probationary period on your car licence.
Yes, if you are still on P plates for your C Class licence. The same P-plate requirements apply to your motorcycle licence for the remainder of your probationary period.
6.3 Do I need to complete a logbook?
No, if you already hold a full car licence and are simply adding a motorcycle class.
Yes, if you are obtaining your first licence and do not already hold a car licence.
6.4 Where do I get a logbook?
The Department of Transport will provide a logbook if you are required to complete one.

6.5 Who can sign my logbook?
Your logbook can be completed and signed by:
> Your motorcycle instructor
> An approved supervising rider, such as a parent, family member, or friend who holds the appropriate licence class.
Your instructor will record and sign lesson hours as they are completed.
If a logbook is required, you must complete:
> 45 hours of daytime riding
> 5 hours of night-time riding
This totals 50 hours, after which you can complete the HPT and then the PDA.
7. How long is a motorcycle lesson?
Our recommended lesson length is 1.5 hours.
This provides enough time to learn and practise new skills without becoming overwhelmed or fatigued.
8. Do you offer one-on-one training?
Yes. Lessons are conducted one-on-one unless otherwise arranged.
9. How many lessons will I need before my assessment?
This varies depending on:
> Previous riding experience
> Confidence level
> Learning pace
> Frequency of practice
Your instructor will provide honest feedback and guidance throughout your training.
10. Do you offer weekend lessons?
Yes. Weekend bookings are available, subject to availability.
11. What should I bring to my lesson?

> Jeans or long pants
> Enclosed shoes, boots, or sturdy sneakers
Additional riding gear can be provided if required.

Training locations are selected to match your experience level and lesson goals.
13. Do I need to be supervised while learning?
Yes. In Western Australia, learner riders must be supervised at all times while riding and displaying L plates or a learner vest.
Your supervisor must be either:
> A qualified motorcycle instructor, or
> A rider who has held the relevant motorcycle licence for at least three years.
14. What motorcycle licence classes do you train for?
We provide training for:
> RE Class
> R Class (when you supply your own motorcycle)
If you have your own motorcycle, we can also arrange training for RN, RE, REA, and R licence holders within our service area.
14.1 What if I live further away?
Give us a call. We may be able to tailor a lesson package to suit your location.
15. Can I train for an R Class licence?
Yes, provided you supply a suitable R Class motorcycle for the lesson.
16. I have a motorcycle licence but haven't ridden for years. Can you help me refresh my skills?
Absolutely. We regularly help returning riders rebuild their confidence and riding skills.
You can:
> Use your own motorcycle, or
> Use one of our learner motorcycles if you would prefer to start on a lighter, easier-to-handle motorcycle.
17. How old do I need to be to start motorcycle lessons?
> 16 years old for an RN Class licence
> 17 years old for an RE or REA Class licence
17.1 What if I already own a motorcycle?
The minimum age requirements remain the same:
> RN Class: 16 years old
> RE / REA Class: 17 years old
> R Class: You must have held your RE licence for at least two years before upgrading
18. What happens if it rains?
Lessons may continue in light rain or be rescheduled if weather conditions are unsafe.
Riding in wet conditions can be a valuable learning experience and helps develop real-world riding skills.
Wet weather gear can be provided if required.
19. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Lessons may be rescheduled provided at least 24 hours’ notice (one full working day) is given.
20. Do you offer licence assessments?
No. Licence assessments are conducted by the Department of Transport.
Our role is to train you to meet and exceed the required standard so you are fully prepared for your assessment.
